This year, we commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the International when two local unions – one from Baltimore, and the other from Philadelphia – met in 1865 for the ”purpose of forming a national union.”
A proud International since Canadian Locals were chartered in 1881, the Convention is BAC’s sovereign authority. Delegates will confer on a range of issues that directly impact members such as benefits, training, organizing, collective bargaining, industry promotion and expanded work opportunities for BAC craftworkers.
The theme of the 2015 Convention – Build · Adapt · Change – reflects 150 years of achievement and our commitment to building an ever-greater capacity to improve the lives of members and their families, and meet the demands of the organized trowel trades industry.
Daily Journal coverage of the Convention proceedings including videos and photos will be posted beginning September 14th.
The Convention will be preceded by the 2015 BAC/IMI International Apprentice Contest on Saturday, September 12th, at the International Training Center in Bowie, MD.
BAC will be live tweeting during the Convention from its official Twitter account @IUBAC using #BAC150.
