Canadian Congress Elects New Co-Chair

Delegates to the 2006 Canadian Congress met in January to elect a Co-Chair and discuss the implementation of the Millennium Morning Project recommendations by Canadian Locals. Fred Vautour, now BAC Regional Director for Canada. Following the election, delegates discussed implementation of the recommendations of the Millennium Morning Project, with an emphasis on expanding apprenticeship and training programs. Guest speakers provided updates on recent drug and alcohol testing developments, as well as outreach and training geared to Aboriginal workers, based on Local 1 SK’s successful pre-apprentice training program in partnership with the First Nations Employment Centre in Regina.
