BAC Condemns Horrific Attack on Tradeswoman Amber Czech
Washington, D.C. - International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworker President Timothy J. Driscoll released the following statement after the tragic death of tradeswoman Amber Czech:
“The horrific murder of Amber Czech, an aspiring 20-year-old welder from Minnesota, is a profound betrayal of human dignity for which words are inadequate.
“Violence against women in the trades is absolutely unacceptable. Every worker, especially those newly entering the trades, is owed a workplace where they can thrive without fear. Her tragic death is an urgent call that more is required.
“Safety on the jobsite is about more than just providing safety equipment. A true commitment to safety requires a culture of care, respect, and inclusivity – where every worker is provided the opportunity to pursue their career free from harassment, intimidation, threats, and violence.
“BAC is committed to fostering that culture of safety. Amber’s death demands that we redouble our efforts to ensure that no such tragedy ever happens again.”
