BAC Strong in Boston

The annual Local 3 Massachusetts/Maine/New Hampshire/Rhode Island apprenticeship competition once again displayed the skill, pride, and camaraderie that define our union. With BAC President Tim Driscoll in attendance, apprentices were energized to put their talents on full display in a spirited competition featuring outstanding bricklayers, tile setters, and pointer-cleaner-caulkers.  

The Mason Contractors Association of Massachusetts helped recognize the competitors with generous prizes, while the local added cash awards that fueled the excitement. Just as meaningful was seeing retirees return to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the next generation of union craftspeople.  

While the absence of longtime Local 3 President Chuck Raso, who passed away last winter, was deeply felt, his spirit remained front and center. As {Training Center Director} Rich Lavoie reflected, “Chuck would have simply said, ‘get your damn ass moving and get this competition going.’” It perfectly captured his passion for apprenticeship and his unwavering belief in moving the union forward.  

Local 3 President Tony Antonuccio and IU President Driscoll closed the day with inspiring remarks, reinforcing that investing in apprentices today ensures the continued strength of our union.
