2026 Pension Protection Act Certification

2026 Issue 2
International Pension Fund

Since the Pension Protection Act of  2006, the Fund has been required to certify the funded status within 90 days after the start of each Plan year. The Fund was previously certified as Endangered Status in 2025 by the Plan’s actuary. The Endangered Status is determined when the plan’s funded percentage drops below 80%. Throughout the last 20 years, much effort has been made to prevent the Fund from entering critical status while continuing to respond to the new legislation.

Good News for 2026 1

As of January 1, 2026, the PPA Status is Safe, emerging from the endangered status, with a PPA Funded ratio of 82.2%. Reaching this level indicates that the Fund is moving in the right direction of attaining significantly more security for participants in the years ahead.
