BAC Statement on the Fiscal Responsibility Act
[Washington, D.C] International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC) President Timothy J. Driscoll issued the following statement today about the Fiscal Responsibility Act to raise the debt ceiling:
"We thank President Biden for his work to protect American workers from extreme attempts by MAGA politicians to destroy programs that allow Americans to prosper and that invest in our country’s future.
“In moments such as this, it is the job of legislators to come together to broker a deal. As union officers know, when one side starts the process at an extreme place, it is a challenge to strike an agreement. The President's steadfast approach to these negotiations ensured that the pension protections and job-creating programs of the last Congress remained intact while also improving the permitting process for future projects.
“Swift passage of the Fiscal Responsibility Act is necessary to avoid a global economic disaster, which would harm BAC members and all working Americans. We urge Congress to move this legislation quickly to the President's desk for signature.”
